These first few videos are just the tip of the iceberg of my journey with Elliot. I want to really drive home to everyone watching that starting out with a new puppy even as a professional trainer isn’t about the flashy stuff. It’s about patience, and building a strong foundation rep by rep. You should see that in each video I’m incorporating the same techniques to establish the behaviors that I want to see in Elliot as he matures. To recap this month our main focus was building drive and possession for the ball. Every video features reinforcement to solidify the message that the ball is the best reward ever, and it comes into the picture when Elliot and I are on the field together. The other people on the field, sounds, and distractions don’t matter without us even having to address them directly. Next month we will introduce the send away, dive deeper into our jump foundation, and discuss and review bitework before teething.
