Elliot's Second Bitework Session

Here I’m going to demonstrate a different technique that will be the way that Elliot’s bitework sessions will look for a while. Elliot is wearing a wide flat collar with a long line attached and my wife Madi is handling him for this session. A harness would be equally appropriate here. I want to remind you that I don’t want Elliot to be allowed to spin while he’s being restrained before the bite. It’s important to hold the leash low, so that your puppy does not have the chance to jump high off the ground, spin, or land badly. I excite him by teasing him with the sleeve, making noise with the stick, using the same noise with my voice that I use when we play, and actively moving away from him. This time instead of letting him run full speed for the bite, I’ve asked Madi to let him pull slowly to the sleeve with resistance the whole time until he gets on the bite. As soon as Elliot is biting, the tension goes away and I work his grip.
